RYAN SAKACS

Co-Founder and Managing Partner

Ryan Sakacs is a criminal and civil litigator with experience in directing licensing strategy and business development for legal cannabis operators throughout the country.

He is currently Chief Counsel to the New York State Cannabis Association of Minority and Women Professionals and a member of the New York City Bar Association Drugs and Law Committee. Ryan previously served as Counsel to the New York State Athletic Commission and Special Counsel with Kasowitz Benson Torres LLP, a national commercial litigation firm. As the founding Chief of New York City's Prescription Drug Investigation Unit, Ryan established a nationally recognized model for narcotics prosecution and directed many of the State's landmark opioid cases. 

Ryan earned a Juris Doctor from Brooklyn Law School and graduated cum laude from Seton Hall University with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Communications and Journalism. He is admitted to practice law in New York and New Jersey.

 

RICHARD WASHINGTON

Co-Founder and Managing Partner

Richard Washington is a civil and criminal litigator with more than 15 years of legal experience. He is an active member of the New York State Bar Association's Cannabis Committee and regularly advocates for cannabis legalization at the national level. 

Richard began his legal career as an Assistant District Attorney in the New York County District Attorney's Office and previously served as Counsel to the New York City Department of Education and to the New York City Health and Hospitals Corporation. In his private law practice, Richard routinely advises start-up businesses, non-profit organizations, and labor unions.

Richard holds a Juris Doctor from St. John's University, a Bachelor of Science Degree from Lincoln University (MO), and a Certificate in International Business Transactions from the Summer Law Institute in Suzhou, China. He is licensed to practice law in New York State, the Eastern and Southern Districts of New York, the Second Circuit Court of Appeals, and the United States Supreme Court.
